ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Orlando Refrigeration & Air conditioning have been asked to carry out Data Logging primarily on Boiler No.1 to determine the failure mode of the Reillo Burner. Our investigations will include all the digital output fault points from the Reillo Burner, the Blower Fan Status and the Natural Gas Pressure being delivered to the gas train.

DATA LOGGING – THE RESULTS

Over the 5 Days of logging, only 1 trip occurred which was captured. The log is illustrated below.

5 Days of Logging

The above capture shows the following:

  • Good Gas Pressure @ 23.9 mBar when firing commenced.
  • The trip occurred at the point of ignition

There were events where the Gas Pressure dropped to around 16 mBar, this occurred at around the same time each day; around 05:30 and 22:30 which coincides with peak demand on the British Gas Network.

CONCLUSIONS

Our testing showed that even though the incoming gas pressure did drop below 16 mBar, it did not have a detrimental effect on the burner performance.

It seems Boiler 1 has an intermittent ignition problem which we think would be resolved by replacing the ignition transformer, High Tension Leads and Ignition Probes.

Boiler 3 has an over gassing issue which requires the burner to be de-rated. These findings are made from observations on the day and are made without prejudice.
